At Oaks Health Medspa, we understand that post-care is just as important as the procedure itself. Our providers offer detailed instructions for common cosmetic procedures, along with a post-care kit to help reduce pain, inflammation, and increase comfort. Rest assured, your well-being is our top priority.

Botox Pre and Post Instructions

  • This treatment is not recommended if you have an important even within 2 weeks of injection due to potential for bruising.
  • Avoidherbal supplements such as inko, green tea and anti-infammatories of any kind for 2 weeks before and following treatment to limit bruising.
  • For the first 5-6 hours following Botox. remain upright and periodically perform facial movements in the areas of injections in order to work the Botox into the muscle- e.., smile, squint, etc.
  • Do not participate in activities that include heavy liftinf, vigorous exercise or straining for 2-3 hours(it takes approximately 2-3 hours for Botox to bindto the nerve and you do not want to increase circulation during that time.
  • Do not rub, touch, or manipulate Botox for 6 hours.
  • Avoid irritating products for 24 hours following Botox.
  • Make-up may be applied genty before leaving the office, reember to wipe p and away from your eyes or brows.
  • Bruising in the area injected is normal and often expected, esecially if treated aound the eye. Bruising can last up to several weeks. Using/taking Arnica may help dimish bruising.
  • It may take up to 12 days for Botox to take full effect.
  • A follow-up visit at 10 days to 2 weeks is suggested to assess results for subsequent treatments, particulary if you are a first time client. If full correction is not achieved, you will need to purchase additional Botox for injection.
  • Re-treatment is typically needed between 2-6 months.
  • Regular injections usuall yield a longer lasting Botox result.
  • If your upper lip was treated you will not be able to drink through a straw, whistle, or enucinate some words for approximately2 weeks.
  • Although rare, infection in the injected area is possible. Sigs of infection may include redness and tenderness in the infected area and fever. Should you develop an infection, antibiotics may be necessary. Please contact us should you have any conerns.

Kybella Instructions

  • Do NOT, touch, press, rub, massage, or manipulate the treatment area.
  • Ice the treated areas for the next 24 hours. Place the icepack on the area for 20 minutes and remove the ice pack for 20 minutes. Continue this pattern for 24 hours.
  • Apply (over the counter) Arnica gel to the treatment area to help decrease the bruising, swelling, and discomfort.
  • Take (over the counter) acetaminophen and/or pain reliever if needed to decrease post-treatment discomfort.
  • Sleep on your back and with the head elevated for the next 3-5 days after treatment.
  • Drink plenty of water and fluids after treatment.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise, sun and heat exposure for 3-5 days after treatment.
  • Avoid Aspirin, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week after treatment. These items may increase bleeding and bruising.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes hours after your treatment. These items may contribute to increased swelling or irritation.  
  • Avoid cosmetic treatments such as injectables, laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or microdermabrasion to the Kybella treatment area. Ideal Image can assist and advise in coordinating specific treatment timing with other concurrent aesthetic services.
  • Please report to your provider immediately if you develop an asymmetric smile or facial muscle weakness, skin ulceration in the treatment area, difficulty swallowing, or if any existing symptom worsen

PDO Thread Instructions

PDQ threads are an absorbable synthetic polymer that is highly versatile. The PDQ thread will biodegrade over a period of 4 to 6 months. The PDQ thread will create micro-injuries to the skin causing it to have a positive result on the dermal layers, for example, increase blood flow. Results from this treatment may take up to 3 weeks or longer for the treatment effect to be noticeable.
After Your PDQ Thread Placement:
To achieve the best possible result from your treatment, follow these instructions carefully. If you have any question or problems that are not addressed here, call our office, and we'll be happy to help.
Normal response:

  • Bruising, and swelling normal can use over counter arnica topical.
  • Post-procedure discomfort medication to use: Tylenol - helpful for post procedure for 7 to 10 days.
  • Most discomfort occurs in the first 24 to 48 hours. Place ice on very gently just in case of bruising.
  • Stinging, "pulling", the itchy sensation will decrease at about 3 to 5 weeks.

What you need to Avoid:

  • Avoid heavy exercises for 1 week, this causes extreme facial movements.
  • Do not touch or wash your face for 30 minutes.
  • Do not pull down on face for 4 weeks.
  • Eat soft foods, no large bites for 7 days.
  • Sleep on the back for 3-4 days.
  • Do not chew gum for 2 weeks.
  • No facial massages for 4 weeks.
  • Limiting facial movements will help to lift threads to stay in place, so no dental work unless strictly necessary
  • Avoid heat in treatment area like saunas, IPL lasers or radio frequency treatment for 30 days.
  • Avoid medication that affects the blood clotting effects like fish oils, vitamin's C, A & E for 7 days.

If you experience increased redness, swelling, pain at injection or thread coming out in the area, please notify the office. Lifting treads do require more things to avoid than just smooth and twisted.
